On March 4th, the CAL Bears and the University of San Francisco Dons battled it out at Evans Diamond in Berkeley, and it seemed like everywhere you turned there was another California Warriors alum. The 11-0 CAL victory featured 9 former California Warriors, many of whom were teammates during summer ball seasons. CAL fielded alumni Aaron Knapp (CF), Devin Pearson (RF), Denis Karas (PH-RF), Lucas Erceg (3B, P), Trevin Haseltine (PH), and Collin Monsour (P), while the Dons featured Manny Ramirez Jr. (DH), Sam Granoff (P), and Mack Meyer (P).

The California Warriors alumni didn’t just get on the field, they made big contributions. The Dons got some offensive support from Ramirez, who went 1-2, and Sam Granoff collected a Strike Out when he pitched a scoreless 4th inning. Knapp had a strong game leading off for CAL, going 2-4 with a Double, a Run and a BB, and Collin Monsour tossed a scoreless 7th inning. Lucas Erceg made a splash on both sides of the ball, going 1-3 with a Double, a Run, a RBI, and 2 BB’s at the plate before coming in to pitch in the 9th and tossing a dominant, scoreless frame with 3 Batters Faced and 3 Strike Outs.

The First Base Foundation is proud to see our alumni doing so well in their college careers, and are excited to see our coaches, Noah Jackson (CAL Assistant Coach) and Joe Slater (USF Director of Baseball Operations), making an impact as well.
