The First Base Foundation & the Bay Area Warriors were honored to host our first invitational tournament and name it after the late great Johnnie Baker Sr. (Dusty Baker’s father).  We look forward to next year’s tournament!

Mission Statement

The First Base Foundation(FBF) is a non-profit 501c3 organization supporting youth athletes in the San Francisco Bay Area. FBF believes that participation in sports is an essential tool in the development of young men and women in today’s society. This is why the FBF promotes various sports related activities through its Bay Area Warriors athletic teams, in which young athletes of all ages and skill levels are encouraged to play and be a part of a team.

The mission of the First Base Foundation is to educate and help youth not only to develop athletic skills but also to gain a level of confidence and self-esteem that they can use on and off the playing field. It is the First Base Foundation’s goal to reach as many young men and women in the community as possible, regardless of athletic ability, ethnic background, or economic status.  The FBF is committed to helping every student athlete  who participates in our program to start a college road map in which they get counseling on colleges and help determining where they fit both academically and athletically. It is important that every athlete  goes on to college. This  is one of our primary goals.   We will  be expanding into woman’s athletics in 2011.  We envision that between our men and woman’s sports programs, we will be working with with approximately 500 students every year, and part of their immersion in our program will be developing a plan for college. We also provide summer jobs and mentoring for our participants.  We have an internship program where athletes learn valuable job, coaching and technology skills.
