Marilyn Jackson – Executive Director

Marilyn is an accomplished educator and entrepreneur who co-founded the First Base Foundation with her son Noah, and she is the Executive Director. As Executive Director, she operates as the Board Liaison and the Parent Liaison, oversees the foundation’s budgets and fundraising campaigns, and provides insights and visionary ideas that steer the First Base Foundation in a positive direction, ensuring it continues to grow while staying true to the foundation’s mission. In 1993, Marilyn founded MJackson Computers, a highly successful, cutting-edge, technology-consulting firm that works with non-profits, senior citizens, and small businesses. In conjunction with 15 years spent working with urban youth and teaching math and computers, her 20+ years of experience as a small business owner make her an invaluable asset to the First Base Foundation’s continued success.

Colin Cotter – Director of Communications

Colin has worked for the First Base Foundation since 2007, initially as a coach before joining the FBF office staff in 2010. A Bay Area native, Colin graduated from Columbia University in 2011 with a BA in Political Science. Colin has a wide range of responsibilities at the First Base Foundation, including managing the design and content of the First Base Foundation website, writing copy and news stories, creating social media marketing campaigns and promotional newsletters, researching & creating Social Media Analytics reports, working on grant applications in conjunction with the Director of Development, helping organize the foundations budgets, and coordinating the FBF Internship Program. In addition to working with the First Base Foundation, Colin is an internationally touring musician, teaching and performing as a solo artist, accompanist, and the front-man in multiple bands.

Ryan Burke – Director of Baseball Operations

Ryan is a 5-year veteran player of the California Warriors organization who debuted as a coach for the California Warriors White Team during the 2015 summer season. In 2011, Ryan was named the Marin County Athletic League Player of the Year, and he was a 2013 All-Conference player for the College of Marin Mariners. The First Baseman transferred to the D-II San Francisco State University Gators in the fall of 2014, where he is currently a graduating senior. As the head coach of the California Warriors Gold Team and the Director of Baseball Operations, Ryan is in charge of ensuring fluid communication between coaches, players, and parents, overseeing the Blue & White Team coaches, and organizing the logistics of the three Marin County-based California Warriors teams.

Jolieba Blount – Director of Development and Grant Writing

Jolieba is from the San Francisco Bay Area and resides in Los Angeles where she works as a professional Actress and Educator. In 2006, Jolieba graduated from UCLA with a B.A. in World Arts & Cultures. She was an Arts Bridge recipient at UCLA, which involved writing, developing, and teaching interactive curriculum on academic content standards for Visual and Performing Arts in grades six through twelve, adopted by the California State Board of Education. Jolieba has worked diligently with non-profits and schools all across the San Francisco Bay Area and Los Angeles. She has also traveled abroad to work with underprivileged students in Brazil, Cuba, and Senegal, broadening her perspective and capacity of understanding people and their needs. Jolieba is passionate about physical fitness, education, and helping youth develop their potential.
