The SOP is a training program with supervision and direction where students can gain experience working in the front office of a professional sports organization. It runs during our baseball season from June through July, and applicants must be entering their Junior or Senior year in High School or be attending college in order to qualify for the Summer Opportunity Program. This is a great opportunity for former athletes and sports-lovers who wish to remain involved in sports, particularly baseball. Some of the positions require attending California Warriors baseball games. Hours are flexible and can be determined on a case-by-case basis.
This program provides meaningful work experience for anyone with talent and motivation. It is a supportive, flexible, comprehensive and exciting program, and since its inception, the First Base Foundation has given opportunities to over 80 SOP participants. Many have gone on to get jobs with professional sports organizations.
